Clavius Crater

Clavius Crater is a large, prominent impact site on the Moon, located in its southern hemisphere. Named after the Jesuit mathematician Christopher Clavius, it measures about 225 kilometers (140 miles) across. Its size and position make it easily visible from Earth with a telescope. The crater features a complex landscape with terraced walls, a flat floor, and smaller craters within. Its age is estimated at around 4 billion years, making it one of the older lunar features. Clavius is notable for its scientific interest and as a landmark for lunar explorers and observers.
