Claude Fallot
Claude Fallot was a French cardiologist best known for describing Fallot's Tetralogy, a congenital heart defect present at birth. This condition involves four related heart abnormalities that disrupt normal blood flow from the heart to the lungs and body. These include a thickened heart wall, misaligned aorta, a hole between heart chambers, and narrowed pulmonary valve. These issues can cause oxygen-poor blood to circulate, leading to bluish skin (cyanosis) and breathing difficulties. Fallot's work helped improve diagnosis and surgical treatment for affected children, significantly enhancing their quality of life and survival.
