Classic Test Theory

Classic Test Theory (CTT) is a framework used to understand and improve tests and assessments. It assumes that each person's observed test score is made up of their true ability plus some random, measurement error. The goal is to estimate a person's true ability by reducing and accounting for this error. CTT also looks at test consistency and reliability, ensuring that the test produces stable results over time. In essence, it helps us interpret test scores more accurately by recognizing that no test is perfect, and some scores may vary due to chance or measurement flaws.
