Clare of Assisi (Saint Clare)

Saint Clare of Assisi (1194–1253) was an Italian nun and follower of Saint Francis of Assisi. She founded the Order of Poor Ladies, later called the Poor Clare Order, emphasizing a life of poverty, prayer, and simplicity. Clare was known for her strong faith, humility, and dedication to serving the poor. She helped establish a community of women committed to living Gospel values, promoting spiritual devotion and communal life. Canonized as a saint, she is regarded as a symbol of piety and compassion within the Catholic Church.
