Civilian Police (CIVPOL) refer to specially trained law enforcement personnel stationed in regions recovering from conflict or instability, where local police forces are inadequate or emerging. Their primary role is to support and mentor local authorities, help rebuild trust, and maintain public safety. Unlike military peacekeepers, CIVPOL officers focus on policing functions, community engagement, and fostering rule of law, often under the mandate of international organizations such as the United Nations. Their presence aims to promote stability, support democratic governance, and facilitate the development of effective, accountable civilian policing institutions.
