Citrus greening disease

Citrus greening disease, also known as Huanglongbing (HLB), is a serious bacterial illness affecting citrus trees. Caused by the bacteria *Candidatus Liberibacter*, it spreads through tiny insects called Asian citrus psyllids. Once infected, trees show symptoms like yellowing leaves, misshapen and bitter fruits, and overall decline in health. The disease damages the tree’s vascular system, disrupting nutrient flow. Unfortunately, there is no known cure, and infected trees often need to be removed to prevent further spread. Citrus greening threatens citrus production worldwide, impacting fruit quality and economic stability for growers.
