Cinqué (or Sengbe Pieh)

He was a West African man captured and sold into slavery, but during the voyage, he and others seized control of the vessel to regain their freedom. After being captured in the U.S., Cinqué led a legal battle that challenged slavery, ultimately resulting in the captives being recognized as free individuals.
