CI (Cochlear Implant)
A cochlear implant is a small electronic device that helps individuals with severe hearing loss or deafness to perceive sound. It bypasses damaged parts of the inner ear (cochlea) and directly stimulates the auditory nerve with electrical signals. The implant consists of an external part, including a microphone and sound processor, and an internal receiver that sends signals to electrodes inside the cochlea. This technology allows recipients to hear speech and sounds more clearly, aiding communication and improving quality of life. Cochlear implants do not restore normal hearing but significantly enhance the ability to interpret sounds.
