Chuvash Autonomous Oblast
The Chuvash Autonomous Oblast was a regional administrative area within the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, established in 1920. It was created to provide a degree of self-governance for the Chuvash people, an ethnic group with their own language and culture. In 1990, it was upgraded to the Chuvash Republic, reflecting greater autonomy and recognition of its unique identity. Today, it is known as the Chuvash Republic within Russia, with its own government, and is located in the eastern part of European Russia, contributing to Russia’s diverse cultural landscape.
