Church of England hierarchy
The Church of England has a structured hierarchy. At the top is the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, the leading bishops. Below them are diocesan bishops, who oversee geographical areas called dioceses. Each diocese includes multiple parishes, which are local church communities led by priests. The hierarchy also includes deacons and other church leaders. The Archbishops play a significant role in national church matters, while bishops manage regional issues. Together, they maintain the church's traditions, governance, and spiritual leadership within the Anglican Communion, balancing church doctrine with the needs of their congregations.
