Church catechist
A Church catechist is someone who teaches and shares the beliefs, teachings, and values of the Catholic faith, often in a classroom or community setting. They prepare others—especially children and adults—for sacraments like baptism, first communion, or confirmation. Catechists help people understand Scripture, prayer, morality, and the tradition of the Church, fostering spiritual growth and discipleship. They do this with a focus on faith formation, guiding learners to deepen their relationship with God and live according to His teachings. Essentially, a catechist is a dedicated facilitator of faith education within the Church community.
