Chrysanthos of Madytos

Chrysanthos of Madytos was a 19th-century Greek scholar and monk renowned for his work on Byzantine music. He developed a system to organize and understand the complex notation used in Byzantine chant, which is the sacred music of Greek Orthodox traditions. His reforms clarified musical teaching and performance, making it easier for singers to learn and preserve ancient chants.
