chromosomal inheritance
Chromosomal inheritance is the process by which genetic information is passed from parents to their offspring through structures called chromosomes. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes—genes located on these determine traits such as eye color or height. During reproduction, a sperm and egg each contribute one chromosome from each pair, combining to form a new set in the offspring. This ensures genetic diversity and the inheritance of traits. The instructions stored in chromosomes are passed down in a way that maintains the integrity of genetic information across generations.
