chromatic scale

A chromatic scale is a series of musical notes that includes every half-step (or semitone) between the notes, covering all the unique pitches within an octave. Think of it as a continuous glide upward or downward, advancing one semitone at a time, encompassing all the notes on a piano keyboard including both the white and black keys. It’s used in music to add richness, tension, or color, and forms the foundation for many melodies and harmonies. Unlike scales that follow specific patterns, the chromatic scale is uniform, equally spaced, and includes all possible notes within an octave.
