Christine of Sweden
Christine of Sweden (1626–1689) was a Swedish princess who became queen at age six and later a notable convert to Catholicism, which was unusual in her Protestant country. She is known for her intellectual curiosity, her patronage of the arts and sciences, and her diverse interests, including philosophy and theater. In 1654, she abdicated the throne, converting to Catholicism and moving to France, where she engaged in cultural and diplomatic pursuits. Her reign and personal choices significantly influenced Swedish history and European culture, reflecting her independent spirit and commitment to intellectual exploration.
