Christian pacifism

Christian pacifism is the belief that followers of Jesus Christ should refrain from violence and war, emphasizing principles of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Many Christians interpret Jesus’ teachings—such as turning the other cheek and loving enemies—as advocating for peaceful solutions rather than conflict. Christian pacifists oppose violence on moral, spiritual, or theological grounds, arguing that responding with compassion aligns with Christ’s example and promotes a more just and peaceful society. This stance can involve refusing military service or advocating for nonviolent conflict resolution, grounded in the conviction that peace is a vital expression of Christian faith.
