Christ of the Abyss (Cristo de los Abismos)

The Christ of the Abyss (Cristo de los Abismos) is a famous underwater statue of Jesus Christ located in the Mediterranean Sea near San Fruttuoso, Italy. Created by Italian sculptor Guido Galletti in 1954, the statue depicts Christ with open arms, symbolizing love and peace. It stands about 2.5 meters (8.5 feet) tall and is positioned at a depth of approximately 17 meters (56 feet), making it a popular site for divers and an iconic representation of the relationship between faith and the sea. Other replicas exist, with one in Key Largo, Florida, symbolizing hope for underwater conservation.
