
Chris Smith (Lord Smith of Finsbury)
Chris Smith, known as Lord Smith of Finsbury, is a British politician and member of the Labour Party. He served as the Member of Parliament for Islington South and Finsbury from 1983 to 2005. Smith was notably the first openly gay member of the UK Parliament and held several governmental roles, including Minister for Culture, Media and Sport. After leaving Parliament, he was appointed to the House of Lords in 2005. Smith has been involved in various cultural and educational initiatives and is known for his advocacy on LGBTQ+ rights and social issues.
