Chris McGregor was a South African jazz pianist and composer known for blending traditional jazz with African musical influences. Active mainly in the 1960s and 1970s, he led the pioneering band the Blue Notes, which helped introduce South African jazz to international audiences. McGregor's work contributed to the development of world jazz and showcased the rich musical heritage of South Africa. He remained a dedicated musician until his death in 1982.
