Chordomas
Chordomas are rare tumors that develop from remnants of the notochord, a structure in the developing spine. They most commonly occur at the base of the skull and in the spine, typically in adults. Chordomas grow slowly and can be challenging to treat because they often invade surrounding tissues. Symptoms can vary widely but may include pain, neurological issues, or difficulties with mobility, depending on their location. Treatment usually involves surgery, radiation therapy, and in some cases, targeted drug therapy, but the tumors can recur after treatment. Early diagnosis and management are crucial for better outcomes.
