Chordoma
Chordoma is a rare type of cancer that develops from leftover cells of the notochord, a structure in embryonic development that helps form the spine. It typically arises along the base of the skull or the spine and grows slowly. Although it grows gradually, it can invade nearby tissues and bones, sometimes causing pain or neurological symptoms. Treatment usually involves surgery to remove the tumor, often combined with radiation therapy. While chordomas are not common, they can be challenging to treat due to their location and tendency to recur. Early diagnosis and specialized care are important for better outcomes.
