Cholangiocarcinoma
Cholangiocarcinoma is a type of cancer that affects the bile ducts, which are small tubes that carry bile from the liver to the small intestine. This cancer can arise in the intrahepatic bile ducts (inside the liver) or extrahepatic bile ducts (outside the liver). Symptoms may include jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), abdominal pain, weight loss, and itching. It is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, making treatment challenging. Risk factors include liver diseases, certain infections, and exposure to chemicals. Early detection and treatment can improve outcomes, but the prognosis varies based on the cancer's stage and location.
