Choeung Ek
Choeung Ek is a historic site in Cambodia, known as the Memorial Park or Killing Fields, where many victims of the Khmer Rouge regime were executed and buried during the late 1970s. It served as a mass grave site for thousands of people who were targeted during a brutal period of political repression. Today, it functions as a somber reminder of the atrocities, featuring a Buddhist stupa filled with the skulls and bones of the victims, and serves to educate visitors about the importance of human rights and the need to remember history to prevent future violence.
