Chisholm Trail
The Chisholm Trail was a historic route used in the late 1800s to drive large herds of cattle from Texas to Kansas. After the Civil War, ranchers needed a way to sell their cattle in northern markets, and the trail provided a relatively direct path for cattle drives. Starting near San Antonio, Texas, cowboys herded thousands of cattle northward along the trail, which covered about 600 miles. The Chisholm Trail became famous for its role in shaping the cattle industry and westward expansion, symbolizing the bold and challenging efforts of frontier cattle drivers.
