The Chinese Civil Service Examination, historically known as the Imperial Examination, was a rigorous testing system used to select government officials in China for centuries. Candidates studied classical texts, philosophy, and policy analysis, with success granting access to prestigious positions in the bureaucratic hierarchy. The exam aimed to ensure that officials were well-educated, meritocratic, and capable of managing state affairs.
