Chimeras
Chimeras are organisms composed of cells with different genetic origins, resulting from the fusion of two or more zygotes (early embryos). This leads to a single individual carrying distinct sets of DNA, often visible through differing eye colors or tissue types, or detectable through genetic testing. Natural chimeras occur in some animals, like certain types of goats or animals with multiple pregnancies, while scientists can also create chimeras in labs for research purposes. Essentially, a chimera is a single body made up of genetically different cells, blending tissues from separate origins.
