Children with CAPD
Children with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) have trouble interpreting and making sense of the sounds they hear, even if their hearing is normal. This can make it difficult for them to follow conversations, understand speech in noisy environments, or distinguish similar sounds. CAPD is related to how the brain processes auditory information, not the ears themselves. Children with CAPD often struggle academically and socially because they might miss details or get overwhelmed by background noise. With targeted therapy and support, they can improve their listening skills and succeed academically and socially.
