Childhood Osteoporosis
Childhood osteoporosis is a condition where bones become weak and fragile in children and adolescents. This can happen due to various factors, including nutritional deficiencies (like low calcium or vitamin D), certain medical conditions, or lack of weight-bearing exercise. It increases the risk of fractures even from minor falls or injuries. Unlike the more common osteoporosis seen in older adults, childhood osteoporosis can affect growth and development. Early diagnosis and treatment, including a balanced diet, exercise, and sometimes medication, are essential to improve bone health and prevent complications later in life.
