Chief Cornstalk

Chief Cornstalk was a prominent leader of the Shawnee Nation in the 18th century. He is known for advocating peaceful relationships with European settlers and defending his people's land during a time of colonial expansion. Cornstalk played a key role in diplomacy between Native tribes and Europeans, working to avoid conflict. He is most remembered for his involvement in the events leading up to the French and Indian War and the Battle of Point Pleasant. Tragically, he was killed in 1777 during frontier conflicts, symbolizing the struggles of Native nations amid colonization and warfare.
