Chickering's Seven Vectors
Chickering’s Seven Vectors describe key areas of personal growth during college years. They include developing autonomy (becoming more independent), gaining confidence, establishing mature relationships, gaining a clear sense of identity and purpose, managing emotions effectively, developing personal integrity, and creating a sense of community and belonging. These stages help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, ultimately becoming more self-aware and capable individuals. The vectors are interconnected, guiding students through challenges and achievements as they evolve personally and professionally.
