Chicago Eight

The Chicago Eight were a group of eight anti-Vietnam War activists and leaders involved in protesting the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. They were charged with conspiracy and inciting riots, leading to a high-profile trial in 1969-1970. The case highlighted divisions over the Vietnam War and people's rights to protest. The original group included Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden, Rennie Davis, David Dellinger, Bobby Seale, John Froines, and Lee Weiner. Later, Bobby Seale's charges were separated, resulting in the "Chicago Seven." The trial became symbolic of anti-war activism and governmental authority clashes during that era.
