Chiari Decompression Surgery

Chiari decompression surgery is a procedure to relieve pressure caused by a condition called Chiari malformation, where part of the brain (the cerebellum) extends into the spinal canal. During the surgery, a surgeon removes a small section of the skull at the back of the head and sometimes a small part of the upper spine. This creates more space for the brain and relieves pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. The goal is to reduce symptoms like headaches, neck pain, balance issues, and neurological problems by restoring normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid.
