Chevalier de Borda

Chevalier de Borda was a French mathematician and naval officer who developed a voting method called the Borda count. In this system, voters rank options from most to least preferred. Each position in a voter's ranking is assigned a certain number of points—more preferred choices get more points. These points are added across all voters, and the option with the highest total wins. The Borda count aims to reflect overall consensus better than simple majority voting, reducing the impact of extreme opinions and capturing broader preferences in decision-making processes.
