chess tournaments

Chess tournaments are organized competitions where players, of varying skill levels, compete against each other over multiple games. Players earn points based on their results: a win typically awards 1 point, a draw 0.5 points, and a loss 0 points. The tournament can be played in different formats, such as round-robin (everyone plays everyone else) or Swiss system (players are paired based on current scores). The player with the most points at the end wins. Tournaments may also have time controls, limiting how long each player has to make moves, emphasizing both strategic skill and time management.
