Cherokees

Cherokees are a Native American tribe originally from the southeastern United States, particularly present-day Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. They have a rich cultural heritage, including their own language, traditions, and history of adaptation. In the 19th century, many Cherokees were forcibly relocated westward in the Trail of Tears, leading to significant hardship. Today, the Cherokee Nation and the U.S. Cherokee Nation are federally recognized tribes with organized governments, preserving their cultural identity and advocating for their community’s rights and well-being.
