Cherokee people

The Cherokee people are a Native American tribe originally from the southeastern United States, including present-day Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. They have a rich cultural heritage, language, and history that date back centuries. Historically, they built sophisticated societies with farms, towns, and governance systems. In the 1830s, many were forcibly relocated during the Trail of Tears to territories west of the Mississippi River. Today, the Cherokee Nation and the United Keetoowah Band are federally recognized tribes, preserving their traditions, language, and sovereignty while contributing to contemporary American society.
