Chernobyl New Safe Confinement
The Chernobyl New Safe Confinement is a large steel structure built over the damaged reactor at Chernobyl to contain radioactive materials and prevent further release of harmful radiation. Completed in 2016, it replaces the previous sarcophagus and is designed to last at least 100 years. The structure helps prevent environmental contamination, protects workers, and facilitates the eventual safe dismantling of the reactor. It is one of the world's largest movable structures, showcasing advanced engineering to manage a long-term nuclear debris site safely.
