Chenla

Chenla was a historical kingdom in Southeast Asia that existed from around the 6th to the 9th centuries, serving as a transitional state between the earlier Funan civilization and the later Khmer Empire. Located in what is now Cambodia, Chenla was characterized by its shifting political structures, including regional states and vassal arrangements. It played a key role in the development of Khmer culture, religion, and governance. As a kingdom, Chenla laid the groundwork for the grandeur of Angkor and the Khmer Empire that followed, influencing regional history and cultural identity.
