Chen Wangting
Chen Wangting was a 17th-century Chinese martial artist and the founder of Chen-style Tai Chi, one of the oldest and most influential Tai Chi traditions. He combined principles of traditional Chinese philosophy, medicine, and martial arts to develop a form emphasizing internal energy, fluid movement, and health benefits. Chen Wangting’s teachings organized slow, deliberate movements that promote relaxation, strength, and self-awareness, later evolving into various Tai Chi styles practiced worldwide. His work laid the foundation for the systematic development of Tai Chi as both a martial art and a mind-body practice focused on harmony and internal power.
