CHEMO (cancer treatment)

Chemotherapy (chemo) is a cancer treatment that uses powerful drugs to kill or stop the growth of cancer cells. Since cancer cells multiply quickly, chemo targets these rapid-dividing cells to slow or eliminate the disease. While effective, chemo can also affect healthy fast-dividing cells, leading to side effects like fatigue, hair loss, and nausea. The treatment is often given in cycles to maximize cancer cell destruction while allowing the body to recover. Chemotherapy can be used alone or combined with other therapies, depending on the type and stage of cancer.
