Charybdis

Charybdis is a mythological sea monster from Greek mythology, depicted as a powerful whirlpool capable of swallowing large ships. Located opposite the monster Scylla, Charybdis represents a dangerous natural hazard—territorial whirlpools formed by herds of water swirling intensely, pulling anything nearby into her depths. Sailors needed to navigate carefully between her and Scylla to avoid destruction. In stories, she symbolizes a deadly obstacle or dilemma, embodying the perilous nature of the sea and the importance of skillful navigation. Today, the term "Charybdis" is used metaphorically to describe a situation involving a difficult choice between two dangers.
