Chartreuse Order

The Chartreuse Order, formally known as the Carthusians, is a Catholic monastic order founded in 1084 by Saint Bruno in the Chartreuse Mountains of France. Their life is characterized by solitude, prayer, and contemplation. Members live in individual cells, coming together only for communal prayer and Mass, fostering a deep spiritual life focused on silence and simplicity. The order is known for its distinctive green and yellow liqueurs, produced by the monks since the 18th century using an herbal recipe. The Chartreuse Order emphasizes a balance between work, prayer, and a profound connection with God.
