Charm quarks

Charm quarks are fundamental particles that are one of six types, known as "flavors," of quarks. They are much smaller than atoms, existing inside protons and neutrons, which make up the nucleus of atoms. Charm quarks are heavier than many other quarks and are produced in high-energy environments like particle accelerators. They interact through the strong force, holding atomic nuclei together, and play a key role in understanding the fundamental forces of nature. Their existence helps scientists study the behavior of matter at the smallest scales, deepening our understanding of the universe's building blocks.
