Charleville-Mézières is a city in northeastern France, situated in the Ardennes department. It was formed in 1966 by merging the towns of Charleville and Mézières. Known for its rich history, it is the birthplace of the renowned poet Arthur Rimbaud. The city features striking 17th-century architecture, particularly in the Place Ducale, a grand square designed in a similar style to Paris's Place des Vosges. Charleville-Mézières also hosts the renowned Puppetry Festival, celebrating its strong tradition in puppet theatre, making it a cultural hub in the region.
