Charles Thomson

Charles Thomson (1739–1824) was a prominent British scholar and the Secretary of the Continental Congress, which governed the American colonies during the American Revolution. He played a key role in compiling and editing the United States Declaration of Independence and other foundational documents. Thomson helped establish the U.S. government's early structure by aiding in the drafting of important papers. His work bridged British and American interests, and he contributed significantly to the dissemination of revolutionary ideas and the creation of American national identity.
