Charles the Fat
Charles the Fat was a medieval ruler who reigned as the King of West Francia from 884 and as Holy Roman Emperor from 881 until his death in 888. He was a member of the Carolingian dynasty, descending from Charlemagne. His rule is often associated with political instability and the decline of central authority in the Frankish Empire. Charles struggled with Viking invasions and internal conflicts, leading to significant territorial losses. His reign ended after he was challenged by nobles and forced to abdicate, marking a pivotal moment in the fragmentation of the Carolingian Empire.
