Charles Hamilton Houston
Charles Hamilton Houston was a prominent African American lawyer and civil rights advocate in the early 20th century. He played a pivotal role in dismantling racial segregation in the United States. As the chief legal strategist for the NAACP, Houston helped develop legal strategies that led to landmark Supreme Court cases, most notably Brown v. Board of Education, which declared racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional. He was also the first African American editor of the Harvard Law Review and served as the Dean of Howard University Law School, where he mentored future civil rights leaders. Houston's legacy continues to influence civil rights law today.
