Charles de L'Escluse

Charles de L'Escluse, also known as Clusius, was a 16th-century Dutch botanist and scholar renowned for his work in plant classification and discovery. He studied and documented many plants, including those from exotic regions like the Ottoman Empire and South Africa. His research contributed significantly to botany, helping to identify, name, and classify numerous plant species. Clusius also played a key role in establishing botanical gardens and promoting the study of plants, which laid important groundwork for modern plant taxonomy and horticulture.
