Charles Darrow (game designer)

Charles Darrow was an American game designer best known for popularizing the board game Monopoly. In the early 1930s, he developed his own version of the game, which involved buying, selling, and trading properties to bankrupt opponents. Although the game had origins dating back before him, Darrow refined, marketed, and sold it successfully during the Great Depression, making Monopoly a widely recognized and enduring classic. His role was pivotal in transforming the game into a commercial success, and he was later officially credited as its creator by Parker Brothers, the company that published it.
