Charles B. Ogden
Charles B. Ogden was a British philosopher and linguist, best known for his work on semiotics, the study of signs and symbols in communication. He co-developed the "Ogden-Richards triangle," which illustrates how language relates to thought and reality. This triangle highlights that words (symbols) do not directly represent objects (referents) but instead connect through ideas (thoughts). Ogden also contributed to the field of linguistics and was influential in the development of the international auxiliary language known as Basic English, designed to simplify English for global communication. He emphasized clarity and precision in language use.
